![â€ïžâđ©čSeptember is Suicide Awareness Monthâ€ïžâđ©čâŠ
Healthcare practitioners often overlook the symptoms of suicide in BIPOC youth. Why??
Because theyâre not even trained to be able to identify how itâs portrayed differently. This causes BIPOC youth to be severely under or misdiagnosed.
Symptoms can look like anger, irritability or constant frustration instead of sadness. It can also look like over socialization & overworking.
The 988 crisis lifeline is great but SO SO much more work still needs to be done. So much more cultural responsiveness, so much more care from both communities + professionals.
I personally have had several attempts in the past + Iâm grateful that they were unsuccessful bc Iâm still here able to do the work helping others.
Pick up on the signs, teach others how to & save a life.
